Endless Delay Bill Scheduled For Additional Hearing
HB 2543, the “endless delay” bill is scheduled for an additional hearing on March 4th at 1pm in the House Judiciary Committee.
As we have told you, this bill will allow the State Police to deny a firearms purchase forever, with no justification and no consequences.
The Oregon State Police have testified that there are background checks that were requested last year that they have not even started to process.
This bill is designed to create one more roadblock to lawful firearm’s purchases. If you want to submit testimony in opposition to the bill, the legislature has made it as complicated as possible. So to save time we have included links and information on how to do this.
If you want to upload written testimony, use this link https://olis.leg.state.or.us/liz/2021R1/Testimony/HJUD and pick the “House Judiciary Committee” and “3/4/2021” from the drop down menus. Then click on HB 2543.
Please note, sometimes the system simply does not work so if you are having problems contact Mike Reiley. (mike.reiley@oregonlegislature.gov) His phone number is 503-986-1635 but there is no guarantee that his voicemail box will be accepting messages.
