ANTI GUN BILL PASSES HOUSE
02.25.2026

HB 4145, the Democrats’ latest attack on gun rights, has passed the Oregon House and is on its way to the Senate. (Oregon’s Republicans provided the quorum that allowed the bill to pass.)
This outcome should be a surprise to no one.
Demonstrating that Democrats have exactly zero self-awareness, they repeatedly used “the will of the voters” to explain their support for HB 4145. These are the same people forcing through Kotek’s tax bill, which has overwhelming opposition from the “people.”
As usual, the Democrats defended the bill with made-up statistics and misleading statements about what the bill does. However, Republicans did point out that one important aspect of the bill is that it prohibits any legal action against it from happening anywhere but Marion County.
This is just one more reminder to the rural parts of the state that they are serfs undeserving of equal protection.
As usual, House Rep. Dacia Grayber—one of the most disgraceful frauds to ever serve in the Oregon legislature—attempted to use the suicide of her stepdaughter to push the bill, while tacitly admitting this bill would have had no effect on her stepdaughter’s actions.
While she noted that her deceased stepdaughter was “in therapy,” it’s not clear where her stepdaughter got the gun or if it was left unsecured by Grayber.
But perhaps the most interesting testimony came from House Rep. Thủy Trần.
Trần immigrated from Vietnam and has spent her legislative career attempting to replicate the policies of the Communist government she left behind as a child.
Trần had voted against the bill in committee until the chairman of the committee (and the bill’s sponsor), Jason Kropf, stopped the hearing to privately “persuade” her that voting against her party’s will was… not in her best interest.
Trần later admitted to the press that Kropf had created a “hostile workplace,” but she “stood by” her changed vote because she “votes her values.”
On the House floor, Trần again voted in favor of the anti-gun bill, once again referencing her “values.” Her “values” include folding up like a twelve-dollar hide-a-bed, bowing to the man in the room, and sticking it to Oregon’s gun owners. While some have tried to paint Trần as a “victim” of the patriarchy, she is, in fact, just another tool of the leftist majority she serves.
As we’ve noted before, Trần is a lieutenant colonel in Oregon’s Air National Guard. Clearly, the quality of Oregon’s fighting forces is in need of repair.
We now need to turn our attention to the Senate, which is the last place this terrible bill can be stopped. As frustrating as it may be, we still recommend that you contact the Senate Republican Leader and tell him you expect him to use the tools he has to stop this.
