Ed Diehl For Governor

Ed Diehl For Governor

04.08.2026

The 2026 governor’s race is looking very much like the 2022 governor’s race.

You will recall that race featured a crowded field, and the final winner, Christine Drazan, garnered less than 23% of the primary vote.

This year, the Republican primary is once again crowded, but only 3 candidates have any realistic chance of winning. Of those three, only Ed Diehl has been an open advocate for gun rights.

As of today, neither Christine Drazan nor Chis Dudley even mention gun rights on their websites. And while Drazan has sent out mailers claiming to have “shot down” a list of anti-gun bills, her assertions are simply false.

Neither Dudley nor Drazan mention gun rights in their voter’s guide statements. Diehl’s does.

After the Democrats’ shifty moves to pass a massive and incredibly unpopular tax increase, Diehl took the lead to put that tax on the ballot.  And while Tina Kotek and the Democrats did all they could to undermine that effort, the signature gathering was a record-breaking success.

That kind of effort requires skillful administrative abilities, the very kind of abilities critical in the role of governor.

With a field crowded with candidates who have no chance of winning, and a solid supporter of gun rights in the race, we believe the choice is clear.  If gun owners’ votes are split again, we could very well wind up with another Republican candidate who won with a tiny percentage of primary votes, and another four years of America’s worst governor. That’s why Oregon Firearms Political Action Committee has endorsed Ed Diehl.

As you know, we take the endorsement process very seriously, and we won’t be winning any popularity contests among the establishment.  But Ed Diehl sought our endorsement, and, after a very careful review of the candidates, we are pleased to provide it.

While we were grateful able to announce yesterday that MZ 114 (should it be approved by the Oregon Supreme Court) will be delayed until 2028, the risks of it taking effect are very real.  If it does, whoever is governor will have tremendous power over the rights and property of Oregonians.

Gun owners, and all Oregonians, cannot afford to have a repeat of 2022, where the votes were split, leaving us with a candidate who over 70% of Oregonians voted against in the primary.

This election might well decide if you can lawfully purchase firearms or own magazines in the future. We believe the best hope for Oregon gun owners is Ed Diehl.  Please be sure to vote. Your rights depend on it.
