The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees an individual’s right to keep and bear arms, period. This applies to every American as reflected in this quote by George Mason, “I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.” Some have tried to redefine the meaning of “the militia”. We must educate our children about the importance of protecting the Second Amendment. There have been attempts to chip away at our gun rights and there are those who would like nothing better than to disarm the people. We must remain vigilant.
