Grades are based on voting records if a candidate has one. If not, grades are based on survey responses or published opinions of the candidate.
Please note, because so many candidates are running on more than one party line, not all third party candidates were rated. Any third party candidate who would like to be rated may contact us for a survey and we will include your positions.
The highest grade a candidate can receive if they do not have a voting record is a “B+” so please consider that while making your choices. We have noted incumbents so you can better understand their positions. When someone has not previously held office and they have responded to our survey 100% they are given a “B+” . We reserve “A’s” and “A+’s” for candidates who have actually taken the hard votes. Consider a “B+” for a non incumbent as a very good grade. To find out who your legislators are use this link.
