2014 GUN BILLS

SB 1551   Senator Prozanski’s Gun Registration Expansion Bill.

On Jan 31, Senator Alan Bates (D. District 3) said they while he had not read this bill and did not know what was in it, (amazing since it’s almost identical to a bill from last year that got LOTS of attention,) he did not expect the bill to get a hearing. This in spite of the fact that Prozanski has promised it would be voted on on the Senate floor. To hear Bate’s interview, click here.  Status: Failed.

HB 4035  Allows corrections officers to have”weapons” locked in their cars while at work. Status: Passed with amendments (signed by Governor effective Jan 2014)

HB 4068   This bill allows people with old or out of state pot convictions to apply for CHL’s (as can Oregon residents) if the conviction was for a violation or a misdemeanor. (Good idea, needs work.) Status: Passed with amendments (signed by Governor effective Jan 2014)

HB 4075  Authorizes certain hunters to use battery-powered scoping devices, laser sighting devices and pin sight lights to hunt. Allows person to accompany person with disability to assist with hunting activities. Status: Failed
