Oregon’s two latest gun bans, SB 243 and HB 3076 have passed out of the Ways And Means Committee and are on their way to the floor where Republican Senator McLane has once again announced, they will pass.
There were no surprises. Just continued disappointments. The Republicans expressed outrage, shock, and how sick they are of gun bans. And they continue to make it clear they will be providing quorum so these bills will pass. Why walk when you can whine? The people we entrusted to protect our rights are whipped.
Once again Senators McLane and Girod expressed disappointment that they could not vote just to pass half of SB 243. According to them it’s fine to put people in prison for owning something they bought legally.
While the entire spectacle was a disgrace, there was one important takeaway from Senator Lew Fredrick. Fredrick, a Democrat from Portland, after an especially ignorant comment about hunting birds with rifles, inadvertently nailed the issue when he admitted that the problem is not people with rifles in Burns. It’s people in his neighborhood. Of course, he strongly supports both bills.
Today was the last day that a Republican could have faced any liability for unexcused absences. If the Republicans go back to work after today, they passed these bills. It is just that simple.
Once again law abiding gun owners are being turned into criminals.
