Making Criminals Out Of The Law Abiding

Making Criminals Out Of The Law Abiding

05.14.2025

Today the Senate Committee on Rules  passed SB 243 to the full Senate.

Public opposition to this bill is overwhelming. Testimony against this bill was 1503 with a mere 187 in support.  Of course, the Republicans keep reminding us to “make our voices heard.”

If the Senate Republicans provide quorum by showing up for the vote on the floor, this bill will pass.

SB 243 will make criminals out of thousands of law abiding Oregonians even while Oregon’s Democrat machine makes damn sure violent offenders are protected. It criminalizes the possession of countless  firearms accessories that are currently legal.

During the public hearing when asked what a person could do if they had one of these devices, Floyd Prozanski (a “lawyer”) told the committee that a person who had one  could “offload them” or “put it on the market to sell.” The bill would make that a felony.

But then Prozanski doubled down on stupid by suggesting that people could “just keep one in their house for historical purposes” because he didn’t see “warrants being issued.. going into people’s houses and seeing what they have or don’t have.”

This is bizarre to say the least. Prozanski is working to make gun owners felons but suggests that they break the very law he is promoting.

The bill also adds a vast new array of places that will be off limits to concealed handgun license holders creating an even more complex patchwork of prohibited places. According to the supporters of this bill this is needed because CHL holders, the most law abiding Oregonians, make some people “uncomfortable” and “unable to access their democracy.”

Senator Manning, always the brain trust, admitted that this would not stop someone intent on a criminal act.

This, of course, is one more lie.  The reason the new attacks on your rights and common sense are needed is because Democrats are petty, vindictive, and will impose their twisted will on you, because they can.  And at this point it appears the people we elected to stand in the way of this evil are more interested in creating  sloppy YOUTUBE videos than they are in protecting what little is left of your rights.

Once again the ball is in the Republican’s court.
