Notes:

As of May, 2005, the Multnomah County Sheriff's office is sending letters to license recipients which contain incorrect or misleading information. The letter claims you may never carry "at the airport."

As we have pointed out elsewhere, this is not true. The letter also states that your license is "not valid outside the State of Oregon." In fact, many states recognize Oregon's license.

The letter says that if you move you must contact the Sheriff's office and notify them of the move. That is correct, however the letter also says that you have 30 days to do this or your license can be revoked. That is false. Oregon law has no time limit on when you must report your move.

Note that in the brochure they are sending with the letter, they claim that the address change must be reported "within the same 45 days" of a driver's license change. So the brochure does not even match the letter, nor does it match the driver's license law (which they reference) (ORS 807.420)
which says 30 days.

For CHL forms, and other info, including a link to the Port of Portland's illegal anti-gun rule, click here. In this info, you will find that they state it is illegal to carry a concealed handgun WITH A CHL on airport property. As noted elsewhere, this is NOT true.
