Clackamas County had changed its policy and terminated CHL renewal notices. This put license holders who were accustomed to receiving these notices at great legal risk. As of May 2007, Clackamas County  had returned to its original policy and has resumed sending these notices. But since they are not obligated to send these notices, it would be wise for Clackamas CHL holders to keep track of the expiration dates of their licenses.

As of April 2010, Clackamas was sending letters to new licensees that contained false information. The letter states you may not  carry "at airports."  This is not correct. The letter also states that if you change your address, you must contact the sheriff within 30 days. The law does say you must contact the sheriff with an address change, but gives no time limit. Attempts to get the Sheriff to correct these errors have not been successful.
